Hengifoss is situated near Lagarfljót Lake, accessible via a hiking trail starting from a parking area along road 931, approximately 30 kilometers from Egilsstaðir. The trail to the waterfall is about 2.5 kilometers long, taking roughly 1–1.5 hours to hike one way. The area is subject to varying weather conditions, and appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended for visitors.
