Studlagil Canyon in eastern Iceland is renowned for its striking basalt column formations. Located in the Jokuldalur valley, this geological structure was revealed in the 20th century when the Jokla River's flow was reduced due to the Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Project.

The canyon's basalt columns were formed by volcanic activity and solidified lava flows. Measuring several meters high, these formations are accessible by a hiking trail from a nearby car park.
