Solvay Hut
Solvay Hut is a mountain refuge located on the Hörnli Ridge of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Situated at 4,003 meters above sea level, it serves as an emergency shelter for climbers. Constructed in 1915, it is the highest hut of the Swiss Alpine Club.
More about Solvay Hut
The hut was named after Ernest Solvay, a Belgian chemist and philanthropist who funded its construction. It accommodates up to 10 people and is primarily used for emergencies rather than as a regular overnight stop. Accessible only to climbers on the Matterhorn route, it is equipped with a radio for emergency communication and basic facilities.
