Access to Mooney Falls requires a hike of about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the trailhead at Hualapai Hilltop. The descent to the base involves navigating steep and narrow tunnels and ladders. The falls were named after D.W. Mooney, a prospector who fell to his death here in the late 19th century. The site is managed by the Havasupai Tribe.
