More about Melissani
The Melissani Cave, also known as Melissani Lake, is a geological formation resulting from the dissolution of limestone, creating a karstic phenomenon. Discovered in 1951, it is accessible to visitors via a tunnel and boat tours are available to explore its interior. The cave is illuminated by sunlight that penetrates through the open roof, creating a unique visual effect. It is best visited between May and October when the weather conditions are favorable.
