Designed by architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the Mariinsky Palace was commissioned by Empress Elizabeth of Russia and completed under Catherine II. It is located adjacent to the Verkhovna Rada building and the Mariinsky Park. The palace underwent several renovations, most recently in 2002–2017, to restore its historical attributes. Visitors can view the building from the outside, as tours are not available inside.
