
Mælifell Volcano
Mælifell Volcano, located in the south of Iceland near Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, is a conical-shaped volcano rising approximately 200 meters. It is composed mainly of palagonite, a type of volcanic rock formed from subglacial eruptions. The volcano is accessible during the summer months.

Mælifell was formed during the last ice age and its distinctive green moss covering emerges during warmer months, contrasting with the surrounding black sand desert. It can be reached by a 4x4 vehicle via the F-road network, which is open from June to September, weather permitting. No facilities are available on site.
