More about Levada do Alecrim
The area is accessible by a well-maintained 2.2-kilometer path starting near Rabacal. The levadas were constructed to channel water from the wet north to the dry south of the island. The trail offers views of the Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is suitable for moderate-level hikers. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear for wet conditions.
