Katskhi Pillar

Katskhi Pillar is a natural limestone monolith located in western Georgia, near the village of Katskhi. The pillar rises approximately 40 meters above the surrounding terrain and features a small church at its summit, dating back to around the 9th or 10th century.

Historically, the Katskhi Pillar has been a site of religious significance, with records of hermits residing atop it since the early centuries. The church, along with a crypt and a wine cellar, was restored in the late 20th century. Access to the summit is restricted, but visitors can view the pillar from below. The site is approximately 200 kilometers from Tbilisi, accessible by road.
