More about Crater Lake
Crater Lake was formed approximately 7,700 years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. The lake has no rivers flowing in or out, maintaining its water level through precipitation and evaporation. The rim of the crater varies in elevation from 7,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level. Visitors can access the lake via Rim Drive, a scenic route offering viewpoints and hiking trails.
