The Cave of the Crystals, located in the Naica Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico, is known for its gigantic selenite crystals. Discovered in 2000, the cave houses crystals up to 12 meters long and 1 meter in diameter, formed over hundreds of thousands of years under high-temperature conditions.

More about Cave of the Crystals

The cave's environment is extremely harsh, with temperatures reaching up to 58°C and humidity levels close to 90-99%. The crystals formed due to the mineral-rich waters of the Naica system, which created ideal conditions for selenite growth. Access is restricted to scientists due to safety concerns, such as high heat and fragile formations. Visitors can view similar formations in other parts of the Naica Mine under guided tours.
