🇮🇹Italy
Alberobello is a town in the Apulia region of southern Italy, known for its distinctive trulli—whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs. The trulli of Alberobello were constructed in the 14th century, and the town's historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, designated in 1996.
More about Alberobello
The trulli were originally built without mortar as a means to avoid taxation, allowing them to be dismantled easily. These structures feature thick limestone walls and domed, conical roofs often topped with pinnacles. Alberobello is accessible by train, with a station on the Ferrovie del Sud Est line, and by road, approximately 55 kilometers southeast of Bari.
